2018 Canadian Council on International Law Annual Conference

November 1, 2018 - November 2, 2018

The Canadian Council on International Law (CCIL) seeks to encourage the study of international law and to broaden relations and dialogues between international lawyers, scholars, individuals and organizations across Canada and around the world. To accomplish these objectives, the CCIL notably organizes international law events including its signature Annual Conference, to which members of the Canadian Partnership for International Justice (CPIJ) usually participate.

Registration is now open for the 47th CCIL Annual Conference, which will take place on November 1 and 2, 2018 in Ottawa. The theme is “International Law at the Boundaries”, and the preliminary program is available here. CPIJ will provide funding to attend this event, and further information will follow shortly. Stay tuned!

Look up the program.

Professors Joanna Harrington and Robert Currie will take part on a panel on “Extradition after Diab” chaired by Craig Forcese.

This panel will examine Canada’s place in the international landscape of extradition, querying: the nature and scope of the legal obligations involved; the colliding roles of the government of Canada as both extradition partner and
protector of the rights of Canadian citizens; and whether the Diab case (and others like it) suggest that reforms are needed.
