Caught in Conflict: Seeking justice for survivors of gender based crimes in war

The University of Manitoba, Centre for Defence and Security Studies and the Canadian Red Cross presented the Paul Buteux Memorial Lecture In-person, public lecture by co-researcher Valerie Oosterveld on “Caught in Conflict: Seeking justice for survivors of gender based crimes in war”.

Dr. Oosterveld discussed about challenges of pursuing justice for victims of gender-based crimes during times of conflict. In her lecture, she explored examples of gender-based crimes in current conflicts. Additionally, Dr. Oosterveld shared her firsthand insights from presenting submissions to the International Criminal Court regarding the crime of forced marriage in the Ongwen Case.
