Professional responsibility and the defence of extractive corporations in transnational human rights and environmental litigation in Canadian courts

November 11, 2022 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm EST

McGill Seminars in Business & Society bring together Professor Penelope Simons and Professor Amy Salyzyn on “Professional responsability and the defence of extractive corporations in transnational human rights and environmental litigation in Canadian Courts”.

Given the inequality of arms between plaintiffs and defendant corporations, and the changing normative context generated by the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and the Sustainable Development Goals, the Seminar asks whether a different vision of advocacy more appropriate in this type of litigation.
